UV LED-curable Inks for Digital Printing Systems

Short Description:

A type of ink that is cured by exposure to UV light. The vehicle in these inks contains mostly monomers and initiators. The ink is applied to a substrate and then exposed to UV light; the initiators release highly reactive atoms, which cause the rapid polymerisation of the monomers and the ink sets into a hard film. These inks produce a very high quality of print; they dry so quickly that none of the ink soaks into the substrate and so, as UV curing doesn’t involve parts of the ink evaporating or being removed, almost 100% of the ink is available to form the film.

● The UV printing process doesn’t cause any damage to the environment. As the UV-cured inks are not solvent-based, there are no harmful substances to evaporate into the surrounding air.

Operating Conditions

● The ink must warm up to suitable temperature before printing and the whole printing process should in suitable humidity.
● Keep print head moisture, check capping stations in case its ageing affects the tightness and nozzles turn dry.
● Move the ink to printing room a day before head to ensure the temperature is constant with indoor temperature

Recommendation

Using invisible ink with compatible inkjet printers and rechargeable cartridges.use a UV lamp with a wavelength of 365 nm (the ink reacts best to this nanometer intensity).print must be made on non-fluorescent materials.
